  • I surrendered my Standard Life Endowment Policy yesterday and was really surprised at how quick it was...I would say not much more than a minute on the phone and it was done...having said that it is going to take 10 working days to reach my account...why I have no idea.

As for Life Assurance I'm taking Martins Lewis's advise and going for cavendish Online

  • I think the thing to remember about sl policies is the final/terminal bonus which is not shown or included in the valuations/projections they give. I have a policy which I have had since 1988 and the current terminal bonus on a 25 year policy is 29.2% of the basic sum assured plus attached bonuses, for a 20 year policy it currently runs at approx 17.5%. I know that the terminal bonus is not guarenteed and the rate can go down as well as up, but still they should be considered when thinking about cashing in.
