How long after paying off CC's can you apply for a mortgage?

I recently paid off all of my credit cards - I use one of them for my shopping / fuel etc that I pay off in full every month, will this leave a negative mark against me when applying for a mortgage, or not really?

That sounds like perfectly normal use of credit cards.
  • Some lenders will take the balance on the cards (as showing on the credit reportr) on the day the credit search is done and lock that in.  Some lenders will allow you to declare what the balance on the cards will be on completion and almost over ride the credit report info.
This is generally only a thing if super tight on affordability or you have large substantial credit card debt on your report

so to answer your question, whenever you like

You don't have to clear all of your credit cards to apply for a mortgage unless you are going to be super tight on affordability.

Thank you all for your help. Here's hoping my local council adds me to the electoral roll soon too! :)

Only 1 lender I can think of that insists on you being on electoral register.  Again, this shouldnt stop you applying
