Moving house: Leaving country: keeping the cost down

I've just handed in notice on my rented flat and will be moving out in mid/late January.
On February 1st I am going to Poland for 4 months to teach English.
I feel like I have so much to sort out. I have quite a few questions/problems, if anyone can help!
I'm in dire need of sturdy boxes for the move. I've looked in Argos but their moving home packs are pretty pricey! I don't have a car but may be able to get my boyfriend to help me pick some up. Do you think Asda or any other supermarket would give away boxes?
My boyfriend has found someone with a small van who will help move my stuff to his (a distance of 13 miles) for £60. Is that reasonable?
What is the best way to store clothes? I have a lot of clothes I won't be taking with me, but I don't want them to go mouldy or musty).
I'm trying to reduce all my belongings at the moment, so I've taken most of my magazines (hundreds) into work or college to leave in the common rooms. I'm trying to use up all of my food items (resulting in some interesting meals!), shampoos and cleaning products.
Does anyone have any tips for moving and storing items? I was going to put my things into storage before I realised how expensive and pernickity it was. My boyfriend has (somewhat reluctantly) agreed to keep my stuff. I do have quite a lot as my flat was unfurnished and I've built up bits and bobs of furniture.
It's all such a faff.
And I totally predict that I will have problems getting my deposit back. I just keep panicking about everything.
