Hello all!
We have just been informed by text and email from Santander that we have been offered our mortgage. As it's Saturday, our mortgage broker is having a well earned rest, but I would like to check the details of if (eg if the valuation of the property is the same etc). I think I can access it online but I'm worried if I open it I will be accepting / declining it and I only want to look at it (a bit like opening a present without ripping the paper 🤣)
is this possible?
i know it sound really wussy but it's taken ages to get this far.

You're being silly. You only "accept" your mortgage by completing the purchase (or remortgage). There's no such thing as a contract you're deemed to have accepted before you've even read it!

I actually do think I'm losing the plot, im sure I read somewhere that you need to accept it within 14 days 🥺
  • I didnt realise you could access Santander offers online yourself.  I always just send my copy to the client until theirs comes through the post.   Every day is a school day.

But on your actual question, no you wont be doing anything wrong by opening it and checking the details.   You accept the offer automatically after the cooling off period or earlier if the solicitor sends you a form to sign to waive your cooling off period

The valuation will have come back fine - you would not have the offer if there was a problem with it.
