Vacuum Storage Bags

Options
I’ve a friend moving from a larger to a smaller apartment.

To conserve space it’s been suggested they store some clothes in vacuum storage bags. Neither she nor I have seen them in use but there does seem to be quite a few on Amazon and they don’t seem to be all that expensive

Anybody use them, what’s your opinion, recommendations?

As always thanks for sharing.
Kevin

Ive tried them and they do work. You have to keep in mind things like zips poking through the plastic and fold clothes to avoid this. The bags can suck out everything and you are left with a sort of stiff flat lump.
Its a good idea to get some that come with a hand pump as then you can open and close your bags anywhere.
The jumbo bags are good for bedding and storing out of season clothes so long as you can stick the filled bags somewhere like under the bed.
They come with a plastic zip which you need to work across a few times till its definitely shut.

I've seen them in pound land , maybe try one cheap one first,  see how you find them . A vacuum nozzle is needed to such the air out.
If the clothes are going to be in regular use, think of the effort of opening and re vacuuming also would imagine the clothes would be creased.
Might be worth a de clutter !

The pound land ones are very flimsy and unreliable compared with the more expensive ones on line, Best way to choose some if you are buying online is to read the reviews

  • I have found that you get what you pay for with these.  I am more careful nowadays as to what clothes I store.  Sometimes, the creases just do not come out post vacuuming.  I have a coat which has never been the same since it was suctioned 😊.  That said, invaluable piece of kit for our overflowing homes.
