Salary pay to hourly pay

I started a new job last year and for the first few months I was paid salary, every month. My colleagues were all paid salary too. Then a few months ago they suddenly changed the way they pay us, so rather than paying us salary they have started to pay us hourly on our working days. So now our pay is different each month depending on the number of working days in that month. Is our employer allowed to just change the way they pay us? We're all very confused and cross as our pay differs each month and we never know what we will get paid. Any response would be hugely appreciated!

What does your contract say? Does it specify how you are going to be paid and your working hours? If it is in writing I believe that an employer has to consult you and give you 30 days notice of any change.
I am curious about why your employer has decided to do this, they have gone from an easy to administer system of a fixed salary, to a more expensive system of having to log everybody's hours and pay out a different amount each month. It must be costing them more in admin.

What was the reasoning they gave? Does your contract state a yearly salary paid in 12 equal installments?
For now, have a list of what your salary will be with 20 working days, 21, 22 etc so at least you know.
But it seems really odd to me.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....1 -
No reason and 30 days notice wasn't given, I found out from one of my colleagues that we now get paid hourly when she queried why her pay was lower. My contract states my annual pay and just says to be paid monthly into my bank, so doesn't specify 12 equal payments so wonder if that is a loop hole they're using.0

Over the year are they paying you more or less than you would have got on the old system?
