Pension on ill health grounds

I am trying to take my pension on ill health grounds. It has a GMP attached to it and ive been told I will only be able to take it when I'm 55. I am 53 now. I do not qualify for any benefits for my illnesses so I need some sort of income. I have a medical report stating my health is deteriorating and still cannot access it. Im being told 55 will be the earliest. Any help/info appreciated.

In simple terms, unless you have a terminal illness with only months to live, you're unlikely to be given access before 55.

As others have said, you're not likely to be able to access your pension. So it may be more productive to post more about your situation on the benefits board, so people can perhaps help you to claim.

Is that because u have a large amount of savings? I would be surprised that people unable to work through illness cannot get benefits.
