  • Just so you know, I did send a written complaint to the Ombudsman in November last year, with various bits of correspondence attached. I probably made it more complicated than I needed to, but one of the enclosures was the initial rejection letter from Elderbridge. Elderbridge appear to have reopened this complaint however upon receipt of my response expressing my concern that they hadn't fully addressed my complaint & also raising the issue of a loan ceasing beyond  state retirement age & beyond the cessation date of my main mortgage (with regards to the issue with the end date of the loan, I also found a previous case dealt with by the Ombudsman which I quoted when referring to the FOS (appreciate every case is different, but I thought the case in question was very relevant to me as ,like the case in question, I do not recall any discussion as to how I would pay the loan beyond state retirement age and to my eyes, there is no clear evidence in the SAR info that this was discussed (it only refers to running through the considerations & there is no specific note to confirm re end date)

What was the outcome of the FOS from November? If it was rejection then just make a new complaint to Elderbridge with the few lines I posted.

You are making a complaint due to the new information that is all, don't complicate it 😁👍

Hi we had one of these Barclays loans ! Paid it off in 2013 when we remortgaged. Can we still claim ? Not sure I have the account number but I know when we took it out and the amount and term. Is that enough information ?

    Thanks !

Was this with Barclays and was it passed to Elderbridge? If it was passed to Elderbridge then put the complaint into them if not then Barclays it is. Look at the responses on this thread for what you need to use as reasons. If you need any help just ask, your name and address should suffice but as it was paid off in 2013 I would see if you can unearth any paperwork you can to aid them. They will then not have any excuses to use and string it out 😁

Great thank you ! No it stayed with Barclays. I will have another look for the account number ! Think I threw the paperwork out once we had the ppi back and had paid it off ! So glad to get rid of it - worse thing we ever did !

    Thanks
  • Hi all,  has anyone had any sort of response/progress with this?  I have heard nothing at all from the initial letter I sent to FP almost 2 months ago.
  • I found this thread by accident when looking for a contact for Elderbridge. Have now submitted my claim, so thank you to OP.

I sent my complaint to them in February and have had 3 standard holding letters saying they are still looking into my complaint but need more information. The last one said I had 6 months to go to the ombudsman if I wasn’t happy which is what I intend to do shortly if I still don’t receive anything more.
