Help I am stressing as I have an AIP from the Halifax. I told them about two defaults ( both 5 years ago ) and they undertook a soft search with Experian so hopefully are aware and no issues with those but just been on equifax and there’s a default for a water bill I knew nothing about due to go off my file in April and they have changed my address to my old address with a really low score. Do the Halifax use equifax or us the AIP fairly reliable and they will use Experian ?

@hammy76 While you should never rely on lenders checking only a specific credit agency and sometimes lenders use different ones at DIP and full application, if the utility default is 5+ years old I wouldn't worry too much.
When you do go ahead with a full application, just make sure you mention it to the broker/adviser so that they do the application correctly.I am a Mortgage Adviser - You should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. When I applied in October, they searched all of the main credit reference agencies. They did affordability checks to begin with and then when my broker submitted the full application, they did hard searches at all of the agencies too.Hammy76 said:Help I am stressing as I have an AIP from the Halifax. I spoke to them yesterday and they’ve ordered the CHAPS payment to arrive tomorrow.
Good luck!FTB with Halifax

I have a DIP with the Yorkshire bank as well. I’d there anyway lender that does only use Experian ? Equifax are being a nightmare ! I cannot believe what a mess they have made0

The bank won't see your score. It's just a number made up by Equifax.Hammy76 said:Help I am stressing as I have an AIP from the Halifax. I will sort the address errors etc out with them but I am viewing a house and want to make an offer if it is at it seems on Tuesday. Equifax will take at least 10 days to sort0

If you're lucky. Took them 3 months to sort my electoral register info by just using their standard online system.Hammy76 said:I will sort the address errors etc out with them but I am viewing a house and want to make an offer if it is at it seems on Tuesday. The best way to get a quick response is to phone them or send it over as a complaint.0 -
Yorkshire was actually one I looked at and they used Equifax. They wrongly hard checked me rather than soft check. I raised a complaint as soon as I saw it and I also logged a complaint with Equifax and Equifax were the ones who removed the search from my file as I had supplied evidence that I had not made a full application.Hammy76 said:I have a DIP with the Yorkshire bank as well.
