Best home improvement loan
Hi newbie here
just looking for some advice. I have a 3 bed bungalow and am looking for best option for personal loan to make some improvements. I would like to convert the loft for an extra bedroom, whilst it’s a 3 bed it’s really 2 double and a small room classed as 3rd. I have been in the house 20 plus years and there’s no mortgage on it, I’m only saying personal loan as I’m assuming it’s a better option than remortgage but that’s because I’m not sure I can as I’m in my 50s. I have had a quote for the loft £17.000 ( I haven't tried any other quotes yet so not sure if this is low or high figure) based just on this I would look to borrow £20.000-25.000. The last valuation was 9. Months ago valued at £250000.
im mainly looking to add some value so I can sell it buy something smaller and have some cash in the pot for retirement. I’m not familiar with any of this so please advise! Many thanks.
