Mortgage Advice Please! Consent to Let, Relocating for work
Morefeesplease
Hi
I am in the process of choosing a lender for my first property.
HSBC & Accord are the best available.
Work is international, it is likely I will move around in coming years.
Best route if I need to move: apply for Consent to Let, if the move looks permanent - remortgage to BTL - at the right time
I hear mixed views on CTL (interest hikes) etc. though it seems an easy process if you genuinely need to relocate.
Converting to BTL seems more complex, particularly if I live abroad.
Has anyone any experience to share with having to relocate after a purchase?
CTL and / or BTL conversion from abroad
With all the fees, admin, product shifts etc.. will I actually just lose money and gain only stress!?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, many thanks.

I have just done Consent to Let with Santander. They have allowed me to stay on my current 5 year fix. At the end of that period I will move to Buy To Let. It seemed to me to be a tick box exercise. I don't live abroad though. The fee was something like £200.1
