Debt help needed

I was previously self employed and about 18months ago shut the business and both myself and my husband declared bankrupt. Since, one of our employees opened an employment tribunal case against the business to claim back holiday pay which was unpaid. Obviously with us declaring bankrupt we are no longer the directors of the business and the business address is our old accountants not ours. The court hasn’t responded to us when we explained we were both bankrupt and now we have received (via the accountant forwarding a letter) threatening letters from the Marston Group to paid in excess of 2k. We don’t have it and we’re only just out of bankruptcy and felt like things were improving! Also our names and address aren’t one the paperwork but I imagine that’s only a matter of time. Any advice on how we should deal with this?

I would advise you to give Business Debt line a call, they are part of the National Debt line group, a debt charity who offer free and impartial advice for business people -

They should be able to help.

You say business, but i assume you mean limited company, and the claim was sent to the registered address (being the accountant’s). When the company went into liquidation the employee should have made a claim via the Redundancy Payments Service https://www.gov.uk/your-rights-if-your-employer-is-insolvent. I don’t believe they can make you personally liable.
Agree with sourcrates, you need specialist advice.
