Barclaycard Default

Hello, This morning, I received a notification from Barclaycard that they're sending me a Default Notice. They've given me until 25/03 to contact them to bring my account up to date and arrange to make regular payments - something I am not sure I am going to be able to do. They state that if I do not contact them by this date, they will register the Default Notice and pass my account to debt recovery agency. Does anyone have any experience of this ? Who the debt recover firm may be and what's their standard practise ? Thanks in advance

Thousands of people will have experience of this, defaulting on debts is very common.
There is no way of knowing which DCA Barclaycard will use, they may just instruct a collector to manage the account on their behalf, or they may sell the debt instead.
Makes no real difference to you, the collector, or new owner, will be able to offer a variety of repayment options, usually whatever you can afford, they will be much more flexible than BC were.
Most debt collectors are more tolerant of their clients these days since having their knuckles rapped by the FCA in the recent past for bad debt collection practices.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. could be a blessing. The interest gets frozen, you demand a signed contract from originally taking out the card. Chances are barclaycard wont be able to find it, the debt becomes unenforceable. best case scenario, or dont pay the DCA and after a while you can try and negotiate a deal.1
