Hiya
Waiting for a response from my Halifax mortgage application. Just wondering how the underwriting is done just from reading things online some people are saying its a computer that generates a yes or no but others saying its done by human underwriting? Doesn't really make a difference but I would feel less stressed if I knew it was a computer response as I have a good credit score . Now I know why people get stressed applying for mortgages lol
Thanks, hailz

@hayleyr247 There's no one answer. It may start off as automated and then be referred for manual review. If your income is straightforward (eg: PAYE basic salary) it's less likely that it will go to manual underwriting. However if self-employed it's almost certain to be looked at manually. Where there's no manual review and a desktop valuation is instructed, the offer can come through super quick.
