Employer failed to put pension contribution in a fund

The total amount including my contribution, employer contribution and HMRC tax relief would be around £5K.0

Surely, this value would have gone up with time? S&P500 has doubled in last 5 years. Did you claim for just £5k or loss of investment growth opportunity as well?thecpshah said:The total amount including my contribution, employer contribution and HMRC tax relief would be around £5K.
Have you contacted your co-workers from the time to see if it is only you who has been impacted, or was this issue a systematic problem? If it was just you - then do you fall in any of the categories in terms of race, ethnicity, gender where you can allege discrimination, for example are you a female immigrant? (You don't have to answer here but something to consider)
How did you separate from the Company - was it redundancy or resignation? In case of redundancy, usually employers give you some paperwork that might contain information about your pension contribution and how to view latest pension value once you become an ex-employee. If it was resignation, then most likely there isn't much you can do on this aspect.
Have you written to the MP from your constituency?
Do you know names of the directors from that Company and do you know where they might be working presently?0 -
From what you have mentioned here, the possibility of getting anything from before April 2016 is negligible. You have not provided exact months when you worked at this firm (you don't have to answer here) - but write-off anything before April 2016 to experience.
Pension regulations became favourable to employees from April 2016 onwards, and hence you might be able to get something from that period (if applicable).
Also out of curiosity, why it took you so many years and what made you act now? The time that has elapsed is working against you unfortunately and you have only yourself to blame for it sadly.0 -

I contacted that company and they could not find my records. So after chasing the liquidators, they confirmed money was never put in a fund in the first place. Now maybe I am the only one who is affected or some people, since few colleagues know the provider's name.I was made redundant and in the documents I received, there is no mention of pension.I have written to the MP this morning, waiting to hear from the MP.I do know the directors' names and where they are working now.Last year, I was going to change jobs and realised that I will have 4 different pension pots, so wanted to combine 3 of them. I already had information abou the two except this one. And my mistake I did not bother as I simply trusted the company to do the right thing.

I was made redundant in 2015 as well and that employer had given me pension statement. Was it mandatory in 2015 for companies to do or I should have got the statement from this company in 2016?0
