Exchange/completion

Evening,
my brother is buying a property currently 6 months and counting. He is nearing his completion now. And his new lender is asking for proof of exchange of contracts from our solicitor (we owned a house together which we sold back in October.)
we have emailed our Solicitor who we used but just wondering will they have this kind of document easily at hand? I sent my brother the Final Sale statement showing the fees taken off etc but he says that’s not good enough and apparently the email from the Estate agent also saying exchange has been done isn’t good enough.
