Because to provide the links and save the poster any effort at all would require him to do the search of the internet for them, then copy the links and post them here for the poster to just click on. They might get that service if they subscribe to the MSE Platinum Member Club!tehone said:
Why did you not helpfully provide the link? It can sometimes be confusing navigating some web sitesD_P_Dance said:Documents needed to support an SAR are listed on the government guidance, why do people not visit them?
I do appreciate what you're saying, but is a reason why it might have been handy to post the link;
To be able to check that the assertion that the documents are there, I would have have checked to make sure my advice was still accurate and up to date, I would therefore have been on that page, and therefore it would take me an extra 2 seconds to copy and paste the link. Additionally 1) MSE forums are full of posts [including this one] that could be answered by saying just Google/Bing/DDG/etc it, 2) and so the value added is the the extra pointer - it can be hard to navigate some websites and so if you've found the information its useful to post it.0 -
You can always come and join us (fewer than a dozen regulars) and provide your gold-plated service to all those newbies who ask for templates, how to pen a letter, provide a link - you'd be pretty busy, but you'd be very welcome to share the heavy lifting here! Twenty seven separate cases (posts on those threads will be considerably higher, and many will be complex) already dealt with since 8am today. It will be 50+ by the day's end. Often there can be 100+ cases dealt with in a 24 hour period.tehone said:Umkomaas said:

Tehone - feel free to provide that level of service. Noone will stop you.
If you do, others may follow. Or are you expecting others to do something youre not willing to do yourself?2 -
As UMKO says, why do you expect me to do your research for you.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.2

I do what I say (hopefully even on here, as much as I can), and certainly on other fora etc , I do as I've suggested.

We all started here with little to no knowledge, a number of us have never had a ticket, nor personally crossed paths with private parking firms. Nonetheless we have learned the ropes through determination and learning through years of reading, to help people unfairly charged. I wouldn't even consider issuing any advice on any other forum on a subject where I lacked knowledge. Happy to read comments, but I'd leave advice to those with obviously greater expertise than me in that topic area.tehone said:Umkomaas said:

Hi everyone,Redx said:Name the parking company for a start
Do not give them any details or personal data of yours
So no driving licence
No passport
No date of birth
No telephone number
Do not reveal who was driving
You don't need DVLA proof , they need that because they issued the pcn
Send them 2 recent redacted copies of utility bills , like energy , council tax etc , hiding references and amounts of money etc , but leaving the name , address and date showing , plus showing who sent it too , cover up all personal data (they already know your name and address so leave them and the date showing etc)
Also add any copies of any LBC or court claim too , because they issued them to you at your address
Setup a free Gmail email address for this saga , give them that too , so not your personal email address
Just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for all the advice. It really helped and calmed me down.I followed the advice also of contacted Roadchef, and after explaining the situation I got the PCN cancelled! Received a letter confirming it today too so it’s a huge relief.Thank you again!7 -
Well done, and thanks for taking the trouble to come back and let us know.
You might be surprised at the number of posters who we help but never come back to tell us the end result, good or bad.
Also, thank you for the work you do in your day job.
