Goverment Green Homes Scheme

Options
hi, Newbie here so not sure if I have put this post in the correct category.  I applied for a primar and secondary installation after seeing the scheme on MSE TV programme back in September and am wondering if anyone has received their vouchers yet.  I used contractors off the govt website but have been told this week that they don't have the correct license under Trustmark and have heard the same from work colleagues who got exactly the same email but about different contractors. Also, a friend of mine is on the govt list but us asking to be taken off and is now refusing to quote, as he has spent hours giving fair quotes to 22 people and all have them have been rejected for different reasons, he is out of pocket with travel time, fuel and he could've been working on paying jobs. Its now starting to sound a bit like its not happening.  Has anyone got any experience to share about this scheme?

Yep, two vouchers for different bits of work recieved and one of them completed. No dramas at this end
    8kW (4kW WNW, 4kW SSE) 6kW inverter. 6.5kWh battery.
  • Mine is for room in roof for my primary and double glazing for two windows for the secondary and the issue is with the double glazing supplier as they are asking for something from TrustMark that says that they are eco window fitters.  I am so pleased to hear that you've had your vouchers, its giving me hope.

Just had the work done.  Two lads took about 3 hours and it all looks good.   The total price was a bit inflated but with the grant it worked out as slightly less that I could have DIY'd it so I'm happy enough.
  • Hi there, I applied early November for heat pump installation and heard back on Christmas Eve as they wanted clarification from the company as to why their quote was higher than average. Submitted their (valid) feedback on 4th January and not heard anything back as yet.

Half a million to miss out on £10,000 green home grants

Only 2,600 households have managed to use the scheme – 0.4pc of the 600,000 target

Paula Higgins, of the HomeOwners Alliance, an advice website, said: "There aren’t enough installers, customers can’t get quotes. People are rapidly losing patience and they are finding it almost impossible to access."

Government figures showed just 66,900 households had a total of 100,200 applications in progress at the end of January. Of these, only one in five had a voucher issued. Just 2,600 households have had any work done – 0.4pc of the 600,000 target.

  • I applied as soon as the scheme opened.  After waiting two and a half months I got a response saying they needed more information from the installer and proof that I owned my house.  The latter is easily obtained from the Land Registry but for some reason the scheme contractors could not do that.  And it was too late anyway, I had had my Heat Pump installed weeks before I got the response.  With Heat Pumps the upfront grant is clawed back from the RHI payments so the only advantage is that you get the money sooner.  From my experience the scheme is a shambles administered by incompetents.

The heat pump supplier we are going with said the same.  They were still accepting Green Homes installations but warned that there would likely be a long delay and said they had to wait a long time for payment from the scheme.  Another potential supplier said they were not doing any more Green Homes quotes because of the difficulties.  I decided to go ahead without it although I have had Green Homes loft insulation done.
  • I'm really struggling to find anyone to give me a double glazing quote - none of the local trades people nor the nationals are part of the scheme (I live in Cambridgeshire). Does anyone have a company they can recommend please? I've got 48 hours to get my quotes in. TIA
