Cash deposits on application

Options
Hi I’m currently waiting the result of my mortgage application however on my statements there is 3 cash deposits. £1600x 2 and £600
I had been giving my mum rent money every week for the past few years (in cash) which she has saved and gave me for the deposit, money is received for my birthday/ Christmas and cash that I had saved over a few years, however I didn’t know that this might be a problem. Could I be rejected for these deposits? Thanks

  • You won't be rejected for these.  Lender may want to reclassify as a gifted deposit though but it wouldn't really impact anything beyond a few more forms from the solicitor to sort out later
  • Had a letter from the solicitor regarding the purchase funding information if anything has been gifted I need to supply
    5. Bank statement of the person providing the gift showing the funds leaving their account to come to you; and
    6. Your own bank statement showing
    the funds crediting your account.

however as my mum had this money in cash I won’t be able to provide this?

Correct. So you'll need to discuss with your solicitor what to do next.
