Silly question I know but sometimes the assistant refuses to take book token coupon - if I actually purchased the book would that still be the case?

From what I've read on here Tesco's do not belong to the national book token scheme (or whatever it is called - sorry, can't remember exactly) and therefore I don't think they would be able to reclaim their money anyway even if you did buy the book. I think they would still be within their right, therefore, to refuse to take the book token coupon. (As with all coupons, it depends on the SA.)

    thanks
I did say this in my first post today, and seeing as this is a newspaper thread I think we all know we have to buy the newspapers first.

You can normally use these vouchers with your general shopping (if you don't get a jobsworthy checkout person) so don't have to buy the product. Most of the time these vouchers work at the self-scanning checkouts at Tesco.

    Hi

I just went to the Tesco self-scan checkout to use some coupons. They would not go through and a message button came up saying 'cannot scan coupons', when you pressed that button a member of staff came up and refused to let me use the coupon as it was not the right one.

Are there some self-scan tills that just accept these coupons without question or do they all come with this message and some assistants are nicer than others?

    Thanks

    LW

I used last weeks DM book token in Tesco, on self-scan till today. It went through ok. I guess some stores must've set their tills to reject the book tokens:confused:
