Taxed too much. Advice needed.

Hi,
It started last month whereby I was taxed way too much and not on an emergency tax code or anything.
Only tax code change I've had is to go from 1250L to 1281L as I did the working from home expenses form.
My annual salary is £33258 and normal tax amount each month is around £339.
December payday I get taxed £1157 and I notice that compared to my November Payday that my YTD taxable pay has shot up from £23024.38 to £48362.39.
Spoke to work payroll and got nowhere and was advised to speak to HMRC, spoke to them and they advised after multiple phone calls they could see their system was showing that I earn more and it would be rectified this month and any overpayments paid back.
This month exactly the same thing, I've been taxed £1580.83 and YTD taxable pay is 51524.06.
Any ideas on what I can do or where to go?
Thanks,
Matt

Has the net pay received into your bank account increased as well?

I'd go back to your Payroll team to question the figures on the payslip (rather than to demand the overpaid tax back). Ask your Payroll why they are reporting an increased salary to HMRC.

I shall do that today, it doesn't help that everytime I call them about it, that it's got nothing to do with them and I need to contact HMRC.

Have you changed jobs this tax year (sing 6 April 2020). They may have just received notice of the prior pay and tax either from HMRC or your P45.

Just spoke to HMRC again, they've spotted the issue finally. When the tax code changed from 1250L to 1281L, incorrect previous employment details had been added to it. The lady has just put it through again correctly this time. Just need to speak to payroll at my work and should have everything returned next month. Thanks for all the input.
