Working from home claim

Recently colleagues have been encouraging me to submit a claim for working from home on the gov website telling me anyone working from can apply. I sent the application then realised my bills are included in my rent so it makes no difference to me financially if I'm at home or in the office. Can even people with bills included rent apply for this? or should I cancel it? I kept being told to go for it but it feels wrong unless there was an actual increase in my bills from working from home but there isn't.

You are correct. If you have absolutely no increased costs from working from home, you should not claim. See
    https://www.gov.uk/tax-relief-for-employees/working-at-home

"You may be able to claim tax relief for additional household costs if you have to work at home on a regular basis, either for all or part of the week. This includes if you have to work from home because of coronavirus (COVID-19).

You cannot claim tax relief if you choose to work from home.

Additional costs include things like heating, metered water bills, home contents insurance, business calls or a new broadband connection. They do not include costs that would stay the same whether you were working at home or in an office, such as mortgage interest, rent or council tax.

You may also be able to claim tax relief on equipment you’ve bought, such as a laptop, chair or mobile phone."
