Errors in PAYE information sent to HMRC

Hello...apologies if this is in the wrong place. I am new and have a lot of anxiety so struggling to use this. Previously I worked part time for a small company. This was whilst I was having problems with PTSD and I was just trying to do a few hours a week to keep my hand in. Things are much better now and I'm working fulltime in a much better paid and career type job. I'm grateful to the company I worked for at that time as they helped me a lot and dont want to cause them problems. The problem is I recently figured out how to access my PAYE record online with hmrc and its incorrect for this period. I was paid by my employer and wouldnt have paid tax those years anyway as my weekly hours and pay were low. However the accountant he used was having problems I think, hes since got rid of them.. but my employment looks like it stops and starts and isnt correct. I want to ask my previous employer to submit a correct to to hmrc but dont want to cause him any trouble. I believe his new accountant can do this. Does anyone know if it's possible or will cost him a fine or create problems. Much appreciation in advance.
