Oh dear Iamdebtfree. I regularly think how GLAD I am not to be young and daft any more, so glad I no longer have to fret about whether or not he loves me, to agonise over whether or not I love him.

But then I was never much of a man magnet, maybe that's what I should be regretting ...

Hope your head's OK in the morning ...

  • Think maybe I have too much time on my hands with lockdown but lately Ive started to think very much in terms of 'How long have I got left'. Im hoping 20 years or so but at the same time Im starting to feel the effects of age on my body more than I would like.
Ive got to retirement and have so much time but not enough money to cruise the world and not enough energy to change it!.
Im almost 69 and in good health, but I am a bit overweight. I have some good friends most of whom are 10 to 15 years younger than me.  I work as a volunteer with a lovely group of ladies most of whom are older than me. Without wishing to sound awful I tend to think of the ladies I work with as being quite 'old'  even though there is only maybe a difference of 10 years max between us.
Im active, Ive been wallpapering all weekend and  I hate being beaten at anything but I know I will ache tomorrow. This morning I was removing a lot of ivy from the fencing around the front of the house (Ive recently moved and Ive now got a largish garden which I have so many plans for when the weather gets a bit better) and I was looking round at what needed doing and spotted some large containers which I want moving from the front of the house to the back. Now a couple of years ago I would have managed to move them myself but I know I cant now do it and I feel really bothered by that. Ive become a bit 'maudlin' about things. Ive been sat here thinking about all the things I really wanted to do and didn't. I wanted a push bike for years but had nowhere to keep one or worked long hours etc, etc. Now I have time and space I think Im too old to be wobbling down the road.  Ive always been a jeans/trousers person but now I see and want all these pretty summer dresses but now my legs are fat, I cant do high heels and my arms are too flabby for sleeveless.
Until about 4 years ago I used to go out running with my son (only locally, no marathons) and when I took the dog for a walk I would go 5 times the distance I go now.
I suddenly feel a bit like its all downhill form here and Im not ready for that. My mind is definately more active than my body and I find it so frustrating. I want to wear big hats but think I would look like an eccentric old dear!.  I want to go to the Northern Soul nights at the local club (when lockdown is over) but I dont want to look like a granny dancer.
I did have a silly moment last week when I looked through the window at the snow and wanted to lie down and make a snow angel, so I did, my husband thought I was mad.
When my sisters had children I was the one they referred to as 'our silly auntie' because I was the one they did fun stuff with but now they are all grown and there are things you cant do alone without getting arrested!
Im just feeling a bit like its almost over in a 'Im getting too old to be doing that' kind of way and I dont like it. Is it just me ?
Im a bit younger 57 and I know Ive less in front then I have behind - bloody scary when your head has only got around being 30 but your body is saying sod this for a game of soldiers :)

This past year, more then any, has told me - SOD IT.

I really do not care what anyone thinks of me or my appearance any more

I went into the first lock down wearing gym clothes because I was walking, going to the gym, watching my diet, now I wear them because they are elastic and dont cut by body in half

    2020, I was navel gazing

2021, Ive thought sod it, Im me, this is how I dress, talk, behave

And yes I do play silly beggers all the time no matter what the occasion is. I rang and complained to Tesco yesterday and I was peeing myself laughing whilst telling them ( was a serious complaint really, just a jobsworth )

You know something, hit 50 ( used to be 40 ) and you are invisible so go make snow angels. dance down supermarket aisles, embarrass  your children - who really is going to be talking about you tomorrow?

In America, one researcher found that you are considered old at 70 to 71 years of age for men and 73 to 73 for women. Just under a decade ago in Britain, people believed old age started at 59. However, research undertaken in 2018 found that British people believed you were considered old at 70.

Age is just a number (OK - age is a word :p:smile:

  • Can't beat comfortable footwear!

I've a pair of DM style boots, adore wearing ballerina pumps for as long as the weather is dry, winter is great for knee high boots and flowing dresses / skirts.

As long as we are happy, who cares what anyone thinks.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.

It certainly is. I just hope that when I hit my mum's age (81) that I am as sprightly as she is. My mum doesn't "behave" according to her age, she's always doing or planning to do something adventurous, although this has been somewhat curtailed by the pandemic. At the moment she's decluttering her home so that her children don't have to do it when the inevitable happens.

We have a lot of snow here so, once I've found the wellies, my teenagers, small daughter and I are going to make snow angels and go sledging. We've not had any decent amounts of snow for a few years so we are going to really enjoy ourselves (and I'm the wrong side of 50 now, but who cares? You only get one life).

Sounds like she may well have plenty of time to clutter it up again!
  • I'm 60 and about to hire an access tower to fix the roof. Despite being female.
The guys I got in to give quotes didn't seem to see what was required. So I'm doing it my way.
I've never liked that poem, why is it odd to do what feels right?
Also, you can make yourself feel decades younger by following the recommendations in "Immunity" by Dr. J Macciochi, an Immunity lecturer. Protein, veg and cold water swimming....loads of other things too...
