Past credit problems

Hi I have past credit problems one of which was a mortgage where no payment was made for 4 years. Long story. I was eventually able to sell this house and cleared all the debt. That was over 3 years. I am debt free and applying for a mortgage. I have a substantial deposit of £105,500 on £230,000 house. I have a mortgage in principle with Halifax. I’m worried my past history may prevent my mortgage when the hard search happens. Should I be concerned??

Get yourself a mortgage broker who can go through your credit file with all the credit reference agencies.

I agree with Dimbo you probably need to speak to a broker. I am very surprised you have a DIP with Halifax, but I suppose this is where the long story and the credit reports will come in to play.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
