Contact them. Work out a payment plan. Asap.
  • Take a deep breath. Have a cup of tea.

Prepare a budget so you know how much you can pay off the arrears on a regular basis. When you are clear, phone up and make an offer. They may decide to adjourn the hearing as long as you keep paying. Even if they go ahead and seek possession, if you are already paying off the arrears they may agree to grant a suspension as long as you keep paying.

If you can clear the arrears before the date all the better but don't panic and borrow what you cannot afford to repay.

Call them today. You can't ignore this.

    Take care.

  • Thank you so much peb and doingitanyway  <3

Well I’m much calmer today, thankfully. Yesterday’s letter really shocked me and I’m now so determined to never be in this mess again.  By some amazingly good luck my OH has helped me out of the hole I was in with the rent arrears, and he doesn’t even know he’s done it bless him and I don’t want to tell him because I’m too ashamed.  He found a track and trace support payment he thought I might be eligible for so I applied just yesterday and I’ve already had confirmation that I’m entitled and it will be paid in to my bank within 3 working days. I really cannot allow myself to ever get in this position again.

I’ve spent most of the afternoon going through my budget and allocating pots on my new Monzo account. Then I’ve worked out how much needs to be paid every pay day in to them.  I’ve done : Xmas, birthdays, car insurance, car maintenance, emergency fund and a fun category so I can take the girls out in the summer holidays.

Have had a little bit of a spendy day Using the credit card today which I’m not overly happy about but unfortunately it was needed.  DD did a little top up shop for me (she’s been so good while we have been in isolation) and that came to £10.10 but this was budgeted for out of this weeks spends.  I then spent £17 on one of the credit cards on 2 birthday presents for littlest DD, they should have originally been £35 so I did get a good saving there.  I really didn’t want to use the credit card but I couldn’t have her not have presents - she’s only going to be 6.  I will have enough to buy her a birthday cake out of my budget.

I’m looking forward to getting out of isolation soon and hitting the overtime to get myself into a better position.
  • Quick check in to keep on top of spends.
DD spent £19.80 at sainsbobs for bits for us and gave DS £20 and he topped up the electric key for me. Also spent £7.50 online on some seeds and bulbs that I’m going to try and grow with smallest DD.

Very cold today and on the countdown to isolation being over!

Have had a quiet few days pottering around the house.  Have done some batch cooking ready for going back to work tomorrow and organised our clothes so I’ve a pile to put on e bay and All the washing is sorted into loads so I can take it to OH in the week.  Today and yesterday are NSD and tomorrow should be a low spend day, will need to pop to the shop on the way to school to get smallest DD a packet of crisps and some fruit as we only have some sorry looking apples that she struggles to eat at the moment due to top teeth having fallen out! I will be taking lunch to work from home, I haven’t bought lunch at work since before Christmas which I’m actually really proud of seeing as I used to buy it at work every shift  :|

Will need to book my mot one day this week as that runs out in a couple of weeks, really dreading it to be honest.  Have been considering if I could manage without a car but don’t think I could for very long.
  • Mad couple of days back at work.  Kind of felt strange rejoining the world after being in isolation.  Customers at work are definitely not following the regulations and it’s frustrating as they’re only in place to keep people safe so I don’t understand why people are not complying.
Money wise things haven’t been too bad. Low spend yesterday of £2.85 at the local shop on some bananas and a multi pack of crisps for smallest DD pack lunch. Today’s spends are £38.49 food shopping and £20.01 fuel.  The food shop should last until next week and I have £2.58 in my purse if we need bread or milk. I’m hoping the fuel will last me until the end of the weekend as I do have quite a lot of running around to do but my car is quite expensive to run.  I’ve taken lunch into work with me yesterday and today  :)
  • Well I didn’t expect to be posting at this time of the morning!  Went to bed last night and smallest daughter kept waking me up crying and saying she has a tummy ache.  She’s normally very good so I know if she behaves like this she must be feeling poorly.  She finally started sleeping properly about 12.30. I went into work for my overtime shift but DD phoned to say smallest has woken her up and she really can’t settle her and she thinks I should come home.  Now I’m thinking I’ve missed half of my overtime shift but will now probably have to miss my regular shift later today too.  I bought a few bits on my way home and spent £6.78 as I’m cooking dinner for OH tonight and wanted to try and make him something special. Yesterday I treated the older girls to a takeaway  :s couldn’t afford it and shouldn’t have done it but it was getting late and just highlighted the need for me to be more organised.  Take away cost me £16.94.  Budget is very tight now until payday but for once I have enough in the bank to cover direct debits and just need to be really careful with food shopping and unnecessary spending.
