Don't have pension details to declare in application, help!

Good afternoon,
I have the fee to declare myself bankrupt. I started my application today, unfortunately I don't have my pension details from my previous employer. I have rung to ask for a statement, it can take 40 working days which will take us to Mid March. I am going to be issued with default notices in the imminent future and I can't deal with the thought of bailiffs knocking on my door, I have had two panic attacks this afternoon about it.
Is there anyway I can submit my application without the details? I have the company name and pension Ref number. I only worked there for 7 years (10 years ago) so don't imagine it will be a large amount. I obviously will pass the details on as soon as I receive them.

 Thanks in advance

    Hi there
I'm not an expert (although I'm sure someone in the know will be along shortly), but I don't think it's unusual for people not to have all the paperwork for everything - it would seem daft for you to have to delay submitting your bankruptcy application because of this.
I would have thought you can just give as much information as you have available and a note say that you are waiting to receive the documentation - it's not like you're deliberately trying to hide something. Good luck.
  • I'd agree with Sonic101. I just wanted to add that debts defaulting doesn't mean bailiffs turning up at the door the next day so please don't panic.

All they want to check is that it's a proper (approved) pension and not some savings scheme that you're calling your pension.

The company name and pension Ref number with an estimated value will be enough.

Pensions are not considered an asset in bankruptcy, and haven’t been for quite a while. You honestly need not worry about it, the OR won’t need the policy details.

That's "just" paperwork - they have to take it to court, you get papers from the court so you can defend the claim and that gives you the potential court date - doesn't stop debt collectors calling but no bailiffs before a court finding against you - that is likely to be a month or more away once/if the defaults are issued

Also don’t be bothered about defaults, and you can forget bailiffs, that’s a long way down the line.
Debt collection is a very long process, and it will be a few years before a bailiff may become involved.

  • Thank you everyone for the help and reassurance. I have estimated the amount so I think I'll submit the application and write on the notes that I am awaiting documentation. Hopefully that will be OK. I just want the application submitted so I can breathe again and get on with my life.

Let us know how you get on
  • I submitted a query as advised by Aidan. They got back to me today to say providing an estimate is fine and OR can request information directly from the company. Next step is to go through my expenditure and make sure I don't miss anything off. Is there a max guide somewhere so I can check that my amounts adhere to sensible amounts for my family size? I couldn't find anything on Google. Thanks

No information on allowances for the public to see otherwise everyone would just put the highest amount in.
Some posters on here do have those figures and can advise
