Starting new job and weird situation

So thank goodness I've got a new job, its a temporary job, contract has been set up and signed, this got done on Wednesday. Start date set to Monday. I told the agency let me know the details for Monday, start time, where I need to go and who I need to ask for etc etc and  now silence????? Never had this before, the agency has been chasing the company, I've been chasing the agent.
My question is if I don't get the starting info before the end of today what do I do Monday as surely I cant start without this information/confirmation even though the contract start date is set to that day? Its not a local job either its 40 minutes away so I can't just nip there and see and especially given we should not be making unnecessary journeys as it would be just my luck to get stopped if I have to then come home as I was not expected.

Does the company have a telephone number?

  • Could you call the company direct? Whether you do it this afternoon or time affords first thing Monday - I had a recent new employer to be who sent if nothing else, a COVID question summary just under 48 hours before I was to join there to complete, job was still very much on and business as usual with little else said.

Even though it's 40 minutes drive away I would head over there this afternoon if you can't contact them by phone.  There may be skeleton staff and the e-mail hasn't been picked up yet.  It will be essential travel as a job may depend on it.

i would leave it until monday and just turn up at the work place and show them the start letter.  it could be that the staff who deals with recruitment are not in today but as the start date is monday, there will be someone there to sign the OP in.

40 minutes journey is not that long a commute really to go there on monday morning.

If you've not got a reply half an hour before your agency is due to shut for the day, ring them and ask what you should do.

What does this contract say about your place of work and your working hours?  If you know it is 40 minutes away, why don't you know where to go?
