in Cutting tax
How does the £6/week from employer allowance get claimed? Is it through the HMRC microsite as one would claim the 20% tax relief or does it need to be claimed directly from the employer? Also, as it is tax free does this get recognised in tax code or just a supplementary tax free payment?

- either the tax code is adjusted (if claimant is in PAYE and the GROSS total claimed is <£2,500)
- or HMRC refund as a cash payment0 -

The tax code would increase by £312 (£6 x 52 weeks) but that will only save him between £0.00 and £3.60/week in tax.
For most people it is saving £1.20 (£6.00 x 20%).
The only way to actually get £6/week is from the employer. And that would have no impact on his tax code at all.0
