One Year Later

Options
Hello everyone!

It’s been exactly one year since I was declared bankrupt. It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since I made out the application and had that terrifying phone call - who knew what kind of year was still to come.

Over the course of the year, I have spoken to the examiner once or twice and that was me contacting them. I didn’t expect the experience to be this streamlined but I’m glad it was and I’m glad to be (hopefully) at the end of it all.

Can anyone tell me how the discharge happens? Will I receive a letter or am I just to assume I’ve been discharged since I haven’t heard anything.

Grateful for any advice from those that have been discharged.

Thanks.

By the sounds of it your bankruptcy was straightforward and you co-operated - so that should mean it gets automatically discharged after 12 months. You can search here: https://www.insolvencydirect.bis.gov.uk/eiir/ to check your current status. Once discharged - I'd take a screen shot - as you won't get a letter. (It might be useful later) Then you need to ensure all your credit files are recorded appropriately and accurately. Once it's all 'right' - you can work towards getting yourself back to normal slowly but surely.

Just to add you stay on the Insolvency register for the next three months so remember to print a copy off before.
