Hi
I have fallen on hard times and yet have a substantial annuity which I am trying to cash in a small percentage. However the company who hold my annuity are telling me this is not possible.
Where do I stand

Can you please expand on what you mean by an annuity?
An annuity typically means that the cash saved in a pension pot has been handed over, once retired, to an insurance company in exchange for an agreed amount of regular / annual income until death so there is nothing to cash in.1 -
It's not possible to cash in an annuity. An annuity guarantees an income, normally for life.1

Alan beat me to it.
The alternatives are that you haven't yet started to take your annuity because:
You are under 55
Your pension fund doesn't allow drawdown withdrawals.
We need a little more information from you in order to give you the correct answer to your question.

Might not even be a pension annuity...? Even so, if you have started to draw it, the terms will be fixed and I'm afraid can't be altered if it is in payment.0
