Retirement Pot From Nest Pensions

I retired at the beginning of December 2020. I have been making payment in to Nest pensions for a few of years. So I went on to their website. Pension pot was only around £2,500 with meant I would only be getting about £10 a month. So I decided to take the money has a lump sum.
Now I'm not an idiot but I could not work out how to do this on the website so I phoned them up and I was talked through how to do it. Gave them all my details and where the money was to go. I was told it would take 5-10 working days but could take a bit longer. This was on the 8 December.
On the 8 January I had not received the money so I phoned back up. I was told everything is going through and the payment would be in my bank by the 25th. I said why is it taking so long. She didn't know but would get on to another department and could I ring back in a couple of days.
I phoned on Tuesday 12 and once again was told yes everything is going through and would be in my bank within 5-10 days. By now I was getting annoyed and said this is not good enough I want a definite date when it would have the money. She said could I hold on why she got through to the department which makes payments. Which I did. After a few minutes she said she could not get through but she would try again later and call me back. I wasn't expecting it but later that day I did get a call and was told my money would be in my bank by the 15th. I now sit with fingers crossed for tomorrow.
What I find very annoying is I have received no paper work from them. The only thing I got was screen capture of the confirmation of my request which states the will keep me informed. Now the only way they contact me is by email which gives me a link to the message page on the website. The problem is to them I am no longer a member and can't sign in to my account so can't see any messages they might have sent me.
Has anyone had any dealings with Nest Pensions and how did you find them?

What paperwork would you like to receive?

Often the delay when someone tries to access their auto-enrolment scheme immediately after leaving work is that the employer hasn't notified the pension provider that you are no longer employed by them.    The notification is usually made with the last payroll.  So, if you retired in December, the pension provider may not get the notification until January payroll is completed.

You should be able to work out how much taxes you will be paying.
  • That's not the point.
It's why it's taking so long. My state pension only took 2 weeks and that was done by post.

I suspect it is still the notification you are no longer an active member.   In my experience, finishing in December rarely sees the notification arrive until January.   They should be able to confirm this but usually, you have to get past the front line staff.   The front line staff of most providers tend to be relatively low skilled and don't have full access to data.  They are basically instruction takes who pass it down the line.

You'll only get electronic versions because that's what you're signed up to. If you wanted hard copies of things, you would need to have amended your account details online.

That's the thing I haven't received anything electronic or otherwise. When ever I received anything before it was only a link. To see the message I had to sign in to my account and that has been closed.
