Hi.
We have just completed our DMP..as it began 7 year ago it no longer appears on my husbands credit file, all green on equifax etc however I only have one account where its been marked with 4 years of AP markers on my file. I'm challenging this to backdate a default but I don't hold out hope.
I have 2 questions ,
Would it be possible to have the mortgage in my husbands name only ( we do have joint account ) ?
He earns over 100k per year and we want to borrow around 350k. We have a deposit of £80k from the equity in our house, plus we are saving hard all the money we used to pay to the DMP..we have no other debts than a mortgage amd no childcare costs etc and I do work.
Would it work to have him sole applicant and me not be credit checked?
2. Our current mortgage is with Halifax, would there be an issue getting a new mortgage with them as they were one of our creditors? And would they take him only for applying for a new mortgage.
We have always paid our mortgage on time. This was not part of the DMP
Any advice would be great!

Quite a lot of lenders will not allow single applications for married couples, more so when the deposit is coming from a joint place.
Halifax may accept you, they may not. But they will have records internally going back further than the 6 year on your credit report. It is far from straight forward and without seeing credit reports it is very difficult to say for sure.

Halifax will most certainly hold internal records. Might not look kindly on you taking 7 years to clear the DMP while saving money to move house.0

Thanks ACC. OK I'll seek out an adverse mortgage broker
Thrugelmuir - the deposit is from the sale of our current house when the time comes and the savings are accruing as we have no further debt to pay. We didn't have a stash in the bank during the dmp. We are saving hard now to try put a bigger deposit down0
