New mortgage, but now a better deal is available

Options
It is with a little reluctance I post my 2nd thread on here after receiving some rather rude and patronising responses from a certain admin person last time.
So my 5 years fixed (7 years total in the current house) has just ended and my first payment has come out for my new 5 years fixed at 3.14% with Nationwide.  I am confident i already know the answer but if 'don't ask you don't know'.  Nationwide is now offering an even better rate for the same deal.  Could I ring them up and ask to be given the better deal since mine has only just started?
Thank you in advance.

@chrissy2020 Unfortunately, since the mortgage term appears to have already begun, Nationwide will not allow you to switch products without paying the ERC.

Sorry to hear about the poor experience you've had using the forum, hopefully that will not put you off it in the future, it's a great resource to have access to.

High LTV interest rates have fallen sharply in the past week across many mainstream lenders, so I suspect you're not alone.

  • Thank you very much, I thought as much but its always worth asking.  After some hard work and overpayments, I managed to get to around 55% LTV just before the term time expiring.

@Chrissy2020 I'm a bit surprised. At such a low LTV, Nationwide 5 year fix rates haven't been anywhere close to 3% for a long time. Did you select a high LTV product switch and then overpay after that?
