Hello,
Apologies if this has been asked previously.
I would like to know if a property built on standard foundations and built with either breeze blocks as the outer walls and a standard construction roof (single story property) or single outer wall of normal bricks then a cavity then breeze blocks, with a standard construction roof (single story property) would qualify for a standard construction mortgage if;
the interior walls were actually shipping containers placed inside the traditionally built walls, before the roof is constructed. The containers would obviously be cut and strengthened in various places, electrics, gas, water all coming into the property in the normal way?

Edit: I am going to ask this in another way; Does the 'standard construction' part of a normal mortgage apply only to the outer walls and roof?

    @wacsa I haven't ever come across this type of construction as described, but from the description I highly doubt it'll be classed as standard construction. Is there a technical name for this kind of construction?

    There's no technical name for it, I am not sure if such a property even exists, but I know homes made out of metal shipping containers exist, but they obviously have a non standard construction mortgage. I wondered if the standard construction aspect of a normal mortgage applied to the external walls and roof only?

    I cant see this for one minute being classed as standard construction. Surely the clue is in the name?
    But I dont know for sure, if you called up a local surveyor you would get your answer.

    But if the foundations, external walls and roof are built as standard construction then does that cover the stipulation? I've not seen anything that states internal walls and floors must be built of standard construction, everything seems to be related to external walls and roof.

    @wacsa Here's a relevant excerpt from the Nationwide valuer's manual which describes what they see as "non-standard" with regard to walls
