Halifax remortgage

Options
I have a fixed rate of 1.88% for 2 years which is coming to an end at the end of January. I had a mortgage previously which cost less after letting it go onto base rate. Does anyone know if this would be the case at the moment since interest rates are supposed to be at an all time low? Finding it difficult to find the info x

Thanks

  • Letting the mortgage go to the lenders variable rate wont change what rates they are offering for new business or existing customers for product transfers.    You have left it a bit late to be looking at remortgages if your deal is up at the end of January so i guess you are looking at doing a product transfer with them internally?  Their rates arent great for that business but they never have been so nothing will change there.

Check if it is better to remortgage but at the moment i wouldnt be counting on a remortgage going through in less than 4-6 weeks so you will have to weigh in the cost of sitting on svr for a few months
  • Thanks, no I was wondering if I should leave it to go into svr, if that would be less as I also wouldn't be paying fees

Loom at your paperwork and what the SVR currently is. It is highly unlikely to be cheaper than finding a new fixed rate!!

it wont be cheaper. I recently remortgaged with Halifax too. Normally the SVR jumps to 3.5% ish.
Better to change to a new fixed rate!
