Mortgage paid off/completed/closed. What documents do I need to make sure I have?

Options
Hi Guys
As the title suggests I have just completed my mortgage for my home (Yay). What documents do I need to make sure I have for the future please?
I suspect:
Closing statement from mortgage lender.
Copy of title deeds - Held by solicitor?

Anything else I might need?
Thanks in advance.

If it's a registered title then it's whatever is on the Land Registry's computer - you don't need to have a paper copy of it. There might be other useful documents stored with them though. Do you know whether there was anything held by your lender (generally these days they try not to bother)?

I would treat the statements in the same way as those for any other bank account.

As far as the registered title is concerned you don’t need anything  as the record is held by us electronically.
Our blog explains in more detail re the ‘deeds’. https://hmlandregistry.blog.gov.uk/2018/02/19/title-deeds/

Lender should write in due course to say the mortgage charge has been released. Will be some weeks.

In our case (Woolwich/Barclays) they never actually wrote to confirm the charge had been released (but they did in fact release it), they just sent us a 2" thick stack of papers which was everything they had on our property/mortgage including paperwork from the previous owner and the original builder.

Apologies for the delayed response, I'd forgotten I'd posted on here and for some reason I never get email notification of replies to my forum posts even though I've selected I wish to.
What do you mean by "Registered title" please?
Also regarding "Other useful documents" this is what I'm asking about here.
    Thanks

From our document pack that the lender returned to us, the useful bits were the original plans showing boundaries and responsibilities for maintaining them, also copies of the original land purchase showing the covenants.
None of it vital and many other documents that were of no particular use, so I wouldn't worry too much if you don't get them.

A title which is registered at the Land Registry (assuming we're talking England or Wales) - which it will be if you bought in the normal way in recent decades.
Other useful things - planning/building regulation consents, warranties, copies of any historical deeds if they still serve some evidential purpose. You may or may not have any of these, though none of them will be fundamental to your ownership.
