Asda Delivery passes - unable to extend and Asda will not answer!

We are extremely clinically vulnerable and rely on our weekly shop from Asda. We currently have a good will pass which runs out on 31st January and a regular delivery slot. This cannot be extended and therefore we will loose our delivery slot at the end of January (as I cannot book slots in February and recurring slots dissapear when your pass runs out).
I have phoned Asda. After 1hr 45 minutes on the phone and an appalling line with background noise, I was told to phone back on the 28th, the 27th and the 24th by the same person but with no reason why or no help as to whether these will be extended or I can buy another delivery pass (I cannot auto renew this one and my existing one ran out in October last year having already been replaced by this pass)..

I have tweeted them and I did have someone come back to me after 3 days saying they would have an answer for me the next day but that has come and gone. I am extremely worried about this as at the beginning of the first lock down as we had nobody to fetch food for us and we are shielding we could not go to the shops and were so frightened as we are are now we went without for several weeks until we could get a regular slot and a pass. if anyone is in the situation and heard anything from Asda can you please let me know

Thanks in advance

I did nothing.  Mine was automatically renewed when my pass was due to expire.

Was it a good will pass? When  was this? Were you paying or ever paid for one that had automatic renewal.

In the emails I have received from Asda it is referred to as a Delivery Pass (recurring slot) or a Priority Pass.
It came about in April last year following my completion of the online Govenment form referred to in the "shielding" letter.  Asda emailed me to say I had been given a Priority Pass.  It was automatically renewed about six months later.
I had at some time had a paid for pass but it had run out of date before April last year.

My sister had the priority pass and it was extended till the end of March but as they put a delivery charge on these passes autumn last year she bought a normal monthly delivery pass for £6 per month. As the priority one was still valid they would not let her do it so she created another account.

Did she get notification of the extension I'm in no man's land at the moment.

Yes I think she had an email or a message on her account. She did not not get the message about buying the delivery pass though. I told her about that as I had it on my account. They told her she could not buy the delivery pass as she already had an active one as she was on the priority list. she just created another account. With the delivery pass you can see 3 weeks dates in advance and also book a recurring slot.

Don't know if this is of any help, Scoobyfizz, but I received this email from Asda today:

In October you received an email from us advising we’ve moved you from a Priority pass to a 3 month delivery pass.

You may have noticed it’s getting close to expiring, so we’ll be extending the pass to the 30th of April 2021 for you.

We want to re-assure you we’ll be adding this shortly so if you see any changes on your account just ignore this for the time being.

Just so you know your pass may show up on your account as “Complimentary Delivery Pass” this is nothing to worry about and you will still see slots three weeks in advance. You still get priority access to slots until your pass ends or we stop offering priority passes.

I wish Asda would use one name for these passes instead of referring to them in differing terms.  However, Asda's website is generally poor and the only way you can make contact if there's a problem seems to be via telephone where you speak to someone whose first language is not English.

  • well the news was that after weeks of chasing Asda I eventually did get the email above on the 27th that Debran pasted. However with my wife still shielding and likely to be for a while (If what I am reading is to be believed) then I am wandering what will happen to us again in April. On my facebook group for extremely clinically vulnerable Asda have extended passes to July that were for people with the priority passes (for some reason my wife and I are both shielding and have filled government site in very early and never have had a priority pass??!!

I don't share your pessimism re shielding.
Yes it has often been extended in the past.
However cases, deaths and Hospital admissions have all fallen drastically and continue to fall.
By March 31st all CEV should have had first if not second vaccine doses- even my mother who was added latest to the list was contacted immediately for her first dose with an appointment offered at the same time for the second in April.
Real life data in terms of vaccine efficacy is limited but all positive so far both here and in Isareal who are ahead of us.
I know my mother is considering going back to work anyway after the 31st so she can earn her salary again and not have to rely on SSP & UC.
