Soup Maker

At the beginning of the week  I spot bought a Salter Soup Maker in my local Lidl.  Well I had to bring it back on Thursday, it wouldn’t heat the soup ! Lidl had no difficulty in changing it even though I misplaced my receipt. Anyway the one I got in it’s placed, sealed, turned itself off as soon as I chose a program!

I am now looking at the Morphy Richards Total Control Soup Maker 501020.  It’s coming in around £100/115 mark. The best price I’ve seen is Debenhams at £88. There are some on eBay but I’m reluctant to buy there

Anyone know of established retailers discounting this type of product.  Better still know of a good price

If you still want a soup-maker I have the Morphy Richards Compact  - I live on my own  -  and I love it.  It was a Which Best Buy and cost about £35.  If you are wanting one for a family you might want a bigger one.  Mine makes just over a litre.

Why do you need a soup maker?  A large pan and stick liquidiser does the same.

You’re right I could use a saucepan and stick blender and that would do the job just as well.

My reason for thinking of a soup maker is that I live alone and normally cook for one, occasionally I’ll cook soup but normally it’s from a tin

So it is easy to place all the ingredients into the soup mixer, push a button walk away, come back in about 30 mins, job done.

Convenience is a big factor.  There is no simmering for a long time, watching the pot and it helps me get my five a day without much hassle.

I’m also thinking of the cleaning up: one container rather than two or three, so time saved.

    That’s really why

I bought a soup maker a few years ago and I must admit I thought it was really good, I think overuse meant it didnt last as long as it should have. I didnt replace it as it just didnt make enough for us all. I think living on your own it's a really good utensil, it's not just soup, it can be stews and pasta sauce as well.
I think mine was the Morphy Richard's one. It also had a saute facility.

I have the Morphy Richard's saute & soup one - they've been on offer in B&M  and are less than £88 😉

  • Just Google soup makers and see what they have on there in the shopping tab, could even check out quidco once you've found one to see if that retailer has any cashback offers, or download the honey extension to see if there's any promo codes

I have the Morphy Richards sauté and soup too. Love it.  So easy and quick.  DD sniffed and said ‘it’s just a big kettle with a built in blender, isn’t it?’ But went out and bought one for herself.
  • I have the Morphy Richards compact version which is fabulous as I live on my own.  From zero to soup in 20 mins.  MR often have great offers on their own website.  Also, don’t dismiss Lakeland’s ebay outlet.  I bought a bread maker from there a few months ago and had no problems at all.  She says as it now conks out 😊.  They also give you a guarantee as you’re still purchasing directly from Lakeland.

My favourite soups are leek and potato, mushroom and bacon n lentil. Do these need a sauté function soup maker or are they ok with a basic one?
