Making a Will

Hello,
What's a good way to make a will without paying a solicitor £200 please?
I want a simple will where my husband and I leave our estate to each other or if we both go together to our son and his guardians.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think there is a good way without paying a solicitor.
This is one case for using the experts. It is worth £200 for peace of mind. If you make a proper will YOU decide what happens to your estate; if you don't the law decides.
Whatever you do don't waste £10 on one of those printed forms from a stationery shop.0 -
With respect, that ISN'T a simple will - there are several fairly complex issues there - eg do you or don't you want to make a trust for your son.
One of the better will writing firms might be a reasonable substitute for a solicitor - though I don't have a specific recommendation.
A STEP solicitor will be better than a general one - many don't really have that much clue about wills.0 -
The Institute of Professional Willwriters are regulated, qualified and insured. What you require is fairly straightforward and should cost around £100 - £130.
Visit https://www.ipw.org.uk to find a member in your area.Public wealth warning! It's not compulsory for solicitors or Willwriters to pass an exam in writing Wills - probably the most important thing you’ll ever sign.

if you or your husband are in a trade union they usually offer wills at a discounted rate0
