Expenses by Payroll and overtax.

in Cutting tax
Morning everyone,
I have realised that as my company pay expenses by payroll so anything cost I personally incur get put through as a salary and I then automatically get taxed on it! I've worked out a good chunk of change should be due over a couple of years but not sure what the best way to get this claim back is? My employer is being naff and won't change the way they deliver expenses. I need to do a self assessment for owning a property Any idea how to explain that on a self assessment? or would I fill in a separate form.
Thanks for any help in advance,
Best,
Eean

If you complete Self Assessment returns then there is no separate form, the tax return finalises the position for each tax year.
Are you sure you have checked your payslips correctly?0 -
Are you sure that it is taxed? Is there a difference between your gross pay and taxable pay which would not be due to any pension contributions?0

There is a difference between the gross and table pay which is not due to pension or student loans. I had a friend in finance take a look at my payslips and they advised me that they're using a very simple pay template and not differentiating expenses. I also spoke to HMRC about it and they said that they could see nothing put through as expenses there end to change my code or anything. Whenever I have previously been paid expenses in other jobs it has always been the full amount received and transferred to my account via BACS or something to that effect, i.e not in the pay run.
I have tried to justify this on my tax return and it did lower the amount but not by much. Not sure what calculation was being made but I honestly think I have been over taxed by about £470.00.0 -
Your latest post really doesn't add up.There is a difference between the gross and table pay which is not due to pension or student loansI had a friend in finance take a look at my payslips and they advised me that they're using a very simple pay template and not differentiating expenses
The only way you will resolve this on an internet forum is to give some payslip examples.
