Applying for mortgage with employment gap (caring for ill father) but have a permanent job now

Hi I am new to this forum, and as I’m getting older I’m starting to think long term financially. I graduated 2015, had a full time job for about 2 years and then my dad became unwell so I had to quit and take care of him. For a few years I then worked whenever I could through an agency. I’ve just gotten a permanent  full time job, and I can now carry on with my career as dad is now much better. I have a huge deposit saved up and would like to apply for mortgage. I have some questions and would be grateful if someone could help me:

1. Taking my situation into consideration, when would I be able to apply for a mortgage? (How many months would I need to be in this role?)
2. Would the lack of employment history (full time job) cause issues in applying?

any other help or suggestions would be very appreciated. Also when I looked after my dad I didn’t get any benefits. Thanks a lot!

@liyana89 There are lenders who will consider applicants such as yourself as long as your current employment is under a permanent contract and can be evidenced through a payslip and corresponding bank statements. When it's time for you to start viewing, I'd recommend getting in touch with a mortgage broker to get an idea of how much you can borrow.
