Santander Mortgage Prisoner Application & Previous Bankruptcy - Is My Mortgage Adviser Mistaken?

I think my best bet will be to look again after August. I will be 6 years post bankruptcy then.
I mistakenly thought that Mortgage Prisoner Help may have been a quick fix for affordability checks (that was the professional advice given) but I now see that we may be best adding my Wife's income and look to re-mortgage conventionally in joint names. We should be OK on affordability that way.
We are both self employed and another set of accounts under our belt showing rising income in April should also help.@nickologjam I'm sorry to hear about the poor experience you had. As ACG said, there's no excuse to not contact the lender and check if there's any doubt before putting in an application. For most mainsteam lenders, you don't even have to stay on hold on the phone line, they have really good chat support for brokers.I hope that doesn't put you off using a broker altogether when it's time. With wholly self-employed income, that would be my recommendation. Thanks @K_S I've always used brokers so totally get the added value. I appreciate that our situation is a complicated one though.
Patience is a virtue and I'm probably rushing things but being stuck with Landmark on 4.14% is a frustrating situation to be in especially when we've worked very hard post-bankruptcy to improve our financial situation.
Not sure of the ethics regarding using the services of Advisers through this forum but perhaps I can contact you professionally in due course?
Thanks again.0 -
@nickologjam you can approach the brokers by private message, they cannot approach you first.
Click on their name and it takes you to their profile, there's a button to message.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1
