Hello . We are short of space and looking to buy a washer dryer . I know of people who hate and some that say they do the job . Opinions please , do they use more water and electric than stand alones and why? At the moment I have a small td on top of washer not ideal so noisy and moves a lot and has to be lifted off and moved if boiler needing attention
I have a heated airer so only use a td for school shirts , towels and sometimes bedding so wouldn’t want to be without

I have a washer dryer that I have had for many years. Obviously a washer dryer is not going to do as good a job as having separate machines but I don't have space for the two.I can't answer your question regarding whether they use more water or power. It may depend on which models you are comparing.I am fairly satisfied with the washing but rarely use the dryer. I dry my washing on a clothes horse indoors because I can no longer hang it outside due to my age and the fact that drying clothes in any tumble dryer is fairly expensive.Unless things have changed since I bought my machine all those years ago, you cannot dry a full load of washing and will need to remove some of the items before you dry. Also, the drum of a washing machine is smaller than that of a free-standing tumble dryer so clothes will come out creased.0
