Help! Office Xmas party planner off sick! 7 days to come up with something!

Hi guys,

Please help me with your suggestions!

The scenario is this - we are an office of approximately 100 drug and alcohol counsellors who have 3hrs off work for an in-house office party on Friday 14th December. :j

The senior manager was supposed to be planning some fun activities for this, but he has now been off sick for a few weeks and the manager above him has now come to me and asked me to fill the breach and come up with some ideas! Eeeek!

So, can anyone think of things I can organise (cheaply) and quickly in this time? Team games for teams of 4 particularly welcome!

Here's your brief:
  • We are a charity so it can't cost much money
  • The party will be in one big room
  • Anything with a drug/alcohol related theme would be welcome (so far I have thought of a version of 'Play Your Cards Right' (Play Your Cava Right?)where the playing cards are replaced by guessing whether the next alcoholic drink contains more or less units than the last?)
  • We can give prizes (but nothing too extravagant) - e.g. chocolate bars.
  • We don't mind being silly, so musical chairs would be ok!
  • Each game should last approx 1/2 an hour so we can have a variety of games.
  • Not everybody will want to participate in all games, so if we can be flexible that might be good.
  • It will take place during the day (no alcohol) so anything that requires a lack of inhibition is probably out!
Thanks moneysavers! I know I can count on you guys to have loads of ideas and help me out of this jam!!

How about Bingo - either the traditional game or make your own up thats drug/alcohol related ie pulling bottles of the alcohol out and giving the units for the numbers etc

Thanks Scottishlass! That's exactly the sort of thing - traditional game but with a twist -:money: that I'm after!

    Anyone got any more?
  • Empty large cornflakes box. Stand it on floor. Team member has to bend down, arms behind back and pick up box with teeth. Fails have to down a shot of something strong. Each round of the game, cut an inch off the top of the box so it gets harder. You have to be fit I guess but it is good fun to watch!!

Hi stormydog - not sure that would be appropriate amongst a group of people whose job it is to promote responsible drinking (amongst other things)!!

Could do some kind of forfeit, though...

There is the good old christmas game where you have to throw two dice and when you get 2 *6's* you have to go into the middle and put on a few items of clothing, ie hat, scarf, gloves and coat and then using a knife and fork cut up a chocolate bar....whilst the person in the middle is getting dressed and cutting up chocolate, the dice continue to go round until someone get 2 *6's* and then they have to start getting dressed and cutting chocolate

you can break it down into a number of groups of 6 or 8 eight people, so they are kind of racing each other.
