Anybody have recommendation's for decent internal door mat that takes most dirt/water off shoes

Most of the dirt/water should surely be taken off with your external mat first ? I have a rough rubber one outside that cleans any dirt off my shoes and then these inside https://www.turtlemat.co.uk

Any mat described as a barrier mat should be perfect. The first one I bought in my previous home was expensive due to size, as it was a rug rather than a mat. Barrier mats tend to be washable too, which is a big bonus. Last year I managed to get a barrier runner being sold at my local post office, (they also sell various household items), for just £15. They sold out of those pretty quickly though.

We have thick rubber ones front/back doors just need a decent one inside......the two replies above have been helpful

I bought my cut-to-measure coir doormat from a carpet shop, it has a thick rubber backing, the coir is about 10 mm long, and was cut to size to fit the doorway, ie any length and up to 1m (think).  I don’t know how it would cope with mud.  If I am working in the garden, ie likely to get muddy shoes/boots, I place a pair of old slippers by the door and change into them before I enter my home.
