CCJ/BW Legal

Hi. Firstly thank you to any who take the time to read and respond.
I have had an email and letter from BW Legal threatening to take me to court for a CCJ as of the 9th of January if I don’t clear balance or make payment.
The initial balance was £450 and now it’s £1,851.30. Loans 2 go limited was the loan provider. A “Letter of Claim” states BW Legal acts on behalf of their client, PRAC Financial LTD.
The letter states it will be taken further if a payment or response is not received. Enclosed is some paperwork, some numbers to call for advice, a sheet for if I’m contesting the balance and then an I&E form. Not sure if there’s supposed to be some actual legal forms. Loan is from 23rd August 2019. To be perfectly honest I’ve been struggling quite severely with my mental health for some years now and I barely remember taking the loan out. I couldn’t tell you what I filled in or the details I gave. I’ve not acknowledged it at all or made any payments.
I am currently not working and merely on carers allowance as I look after my mum. I’m not sure what to do next. Whether I can contest the balance as I wasn’t in my right mind or whether to just make a payment to stop them taking legal action.
I have other debts from years ago which I’m going to look into but that’s another post for another day as this is the only one that has sent a letter with CCJ talk.
Thanks

I'm not sure this is a letter of claim from the description but you should be aware from the debt camel link of what one looks like should it arrive.
For me the key in your post was the final bit:I have other debts from years ago which I’m going to look into but that’s another post for another day as this is the only one that has sent a letter with CCJ talk.Maybe now is the time to look for a holistic strategy. Your only income is Carers Allowance (you don't get Universal Credit?) and it sounds like you don't own property.
If your total debts are under 20k and you live in England/Wales then you may want to look into a Debt Relief Order
