Wedding Haggling?

I recently got engaged and am starting to plan certain things for our wedding in June 2022. My question is a simple one - is haggling/negotiating acceptable when it comes to wedding planning? I'm talking about caterers, photographers, marquee hire, flower hire and everything in between.

Haggling as in seeing if you can get a little extra thrown in or a small discount - there's no harm to ask - but a wedding is about your perfect day - so if you do decide to cut corners - you get what you pay for within reason. If you mean haggling to get 50 percent off their prices - no - that's not something I would entertain in my previous role - as soon as someone said I want big discounts - I switched off. I'm all for fair negotiation - but expecting silly discounts doesn't work for me.

You can haggle with anything you like really. A price is merely an offer to treat which you can accept, negotiate or decline.0

We were supplying our own alcohol at the venue. I called around the local supermarkets a few weeks before saying I needed £4-5000 worth of drink. They gave me all the stuff on offer, and then knocked off another 10%. They just put in a larger order for the week we wanted it, win for the store as it showed strong sales, win for us! Most large supermarkets have flexible discounts that local managers can apply (I was an M+S food manager in a previous life)0
