Hi all - im very lucky that at christmas all the family put money together for the food and we get a ham from the M&S food ordering. The ham is £35 but is the BEST ham you will ever eat. Quite expensive tho i know x0

I shamelessly used the Nigella Recipe for Coca cola ham a couple of years ago now it is expected of me to come up with it but i dont mind.
You boil the ham in full fat full sugar hit coke and an onion to take up any extra salt. When it is cooked this is what you need to d0-
Score the fat with a sharp knife to make fairly large diamond shapes and stud each diamond with a clove. Then carefully spread molasses over the skin, taking care not to dislodge the cloves- trickier than it sounds. Gently pat mustard and sugar- you could use honey if you fancied too onto the joint then cook in foil for about 10 mins or until it gets a lovely burnished look-easy for me most things have this look getting permission to do it is like wow!
Enjoy0 -
thanks jo03 we don't like honey never really got the taste for it...so I am just going to use cloves and brown sugar do you think this will have to same effect also I got an unsmoked one as no need to soak over night and just take off the top hard bit then score it into diamonds do you think this will work I am going off an anthony worral thomson recipe that is in my head from last christmas on christmas cooks but they don't seem to be doing it this year....any help gratefull it's my first ham....cw:Dmerry christmas:xmastree:found the nigella one so I may do that only I don't have a pan big enough...

It should be ok but it would be better if the sugar mix had something to key it you can get really mild mustard and mix it with the sugar it doesnt taste of it to any great degree.
You will be fine with it really I remember though the first one I did omg I sat right with it the whole time.:rotfl:0 -
thanks jo03 a friend of mine is gonna lend me his crock pot (very very large pan with lid) so I can soak it in the cola and then simmer it in that too...black treacle is what is on nigella's recipe and mustard /sugar /cloves and an onion....so I'll go with that...
