Paying empty year contributions

My tax record says I have 3 empty years of national insurance contributions, meaning they do not count towards my state pension.
However, I am due to pay a large amount of tax this year (around £45k) and would like to know if some of this tax can be used to pay those missing years as voluntary contributions - so I can fill in the gaps in my national insurance record?  Thank you.

No, you can't. Your tax and national insurance contributions are separate.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

Do you actually need to pay those empty years?

There is an awful lot of misunderstanding around the "new" State Pension with plenty of people (the majority of those under SPA at the moment) under transitional rules where the much vaunted 35 years rule is irrelevant.

Why not post up details of exactly what your State Pension forecast says and then it will be clearer if the 3 years are relevant or not.
